Origin: Southern Alaska to Northern California

Appearance: Reddish-brown heartwood with nearly white sapwood.

Characteristics: Straight grained with coarse texture. Brittle, soft, and easily dented. Easy to machine. Glues, nails, and finishes well. Dust may cause rashes or respiratory problems.
